When ordering online you want to make sure that as soon as Miami receives the package that it is handled with priority, yet at no additional cost. The Aeropost Network Prealert system is your advantage.
Prealert is a tool that is available in MyAero where you can provide the information about your package BEFORE it arrives in Miami. But, why bother prealerting your packages? Well, the benefits are great and covered below.
When a package arrives at our warehouse in Miami, it is inspected and our agents input a whole bunch of information into the system such as the contents description, the value, the name of the shipper and your account information. As you can imagine, this process takes time and unfortunately makes your package take longer to process.
By using the prealert is a system in which you tell us before hand what you purchased and that way alert us ahead of time. With this information, we can process your important dvd, digital camera, or that important gift faster and at no additional charge.
The PreAlert also prevents your package from potentially being put on Hold in Miami. Sometimes, shippers forget to include the country code or account number. If you Prealert the package, we will know which account to assign your package even if the shipper forgot to include the complete information about your account. Packages without account numbers or country code are put on hold in Miami. We might have a David Smith in Barbados and one in Jamaica, and we don’t want to make the mistake of guessing and sending the package to the wrong country. Your Prealert solves that problem.
A prealert also helps keep your package from being misclassified in Customs or that its value be calculated incorrectly because there was no invoice or value on the package. Through a prealert you provide us will all the pertinent information needed in order to clear your package through customs correctly.
Don’t forget that a prealert must be done BEFORE the package arrives in Miami and it is extremely important that you enter the real and correct information since we are not responsible for false prealerts or the consequences of prealerting your package incorrectly.
How to Enter a Prealert?
Prealerts are entered from your MyAero account, our online administration and tracking system. If you still do not have your access code and password, you can request it from your Customer Service team. When the shipper informs you of the tracking number for your package, go to MyAero, then to the tab titled “Prealerts”, and enter the following information:
* Courier Company that is delivering your package to Miami (FedEx, UPS, DHL o USPS)
* Tracking number of the package
* Description of Package Contents (short and simple)
* Shipper or Provider (Store or Person package is coming from)
* Consignee or Addressee (to whom the package is addressed and/or going to)
* Cost of the Item (Value of the Contents)
